The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announced that Nigeria recorded a massive 381 increase in the number of confirmed cases on Thursday 7th April 2020. The highest number of cases recorded in the country since the index case hits the country and a 186 difference compared to the 195 new cases recorded on Wednesday.
The centre reported this via its verified twitter page, where it disclosed that Nigeria recorded 381 new cases of COVID-19, with Lagos State topping the chart with a spike of 183 new cases.
According to the report released by NCDC, Lagos State recorded 183 new cases, Kano 55, Jigawa 44, Zamfara and Bauchi 19 new cases each, Katsina 11, Borno 9, Kwara 8, Kaduna 7, Gombe 6, Ogun 5, Sokoto 4, Oyo and Rivers recorded 3 new cases each, Niger 2, Akwa-Ibom 1, Enugu 1, and Plateau 1.
Nigeria now has 3526 total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 601 patients treated and discharged from various isolation centres across the country, and 107 death cases recorded so far.
Meanwhile, Nigerians have taken to social media to call on the Federal Government to cancel the easing process and extend the lock-down before the country starts experiencing a same massive spike in death cases as in Italy and USA.
