Nigeria recorded 216 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 on the 18th of May 2020, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 6175, NCDC reports.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) made the announcement in a tweet via its verified Twitter page @NCDCgov, where it gave the breakdown of the new cases by states.
According to a report released by the centre, Lagos State recorded 74 new cases of the virus bringing its tally in the state to 2624, 33 new cases were reported in Katsina State, 19 in Oyo, 17 in Kano, 13 in Edo, 10 in Zamfara, 8 in Ogun, 8 In Gombe, 8 in Borno, 7 in Kwara, 4 in FCT Abuja, 3 each in Kaduna and Enugu, and 2 in River State.
Nigeria now has a total record of 6175 (Six thousand, one hundred and seventy-five) COVID-19 infectious cases, with 1644 infected persons treated and discharged, and 191 death cases recorded so far.
Comparing this report with the one released on May 17th, the number of discharged patients increased by 50, while the country recorded 9 new death cases.
