FG Finally Gives Date For The Payment Of N30,000 To NYSC Corpers

The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mr Shuabu Ibrahim has assured Corp members that they will start receiving N30,000 as allowance starting next year.

MackenzieSkyBlog  reports that the NYSC DG made the confirmation in a message to Premium Times, when the newspaper reached out to him on the matter.

The NYSC Director General said the allowance of corps members was being reviewed to reflect the new minimum wage of N30,000 per month by 2020 as it had been captured in the yet-to-be-assented appropriation bill.

“We’ve told our corps members that the allowance was captured in the 2020 Budget, Once signed into law by Mr. President, payment will commence. 

"The Hon Minister of Youth and Sports Development reiterated this too when he addressed the Corps members in Lagos,” the Nysc boss added.

The Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare, had released a statement on the same matter yesterday during his visit to the Nysc orientation camp in Iyana-Ipaja, Lagos State, where he confirmed the N30,000 payment.

His statement in part reads:

“Allowance of corps members would be reviewed to reflect the new minimum wage of N30,000 per month by 2020. The figure has been captured in next year’s budget."
