Robin Van Persie |
Former Manchester United striker, Robin van Persie has described Bruno Fernandes performance as "a joy to watch" despite being introduced at the 81 minutes of the Europa League away game with Club Brugge that ended in a 1-1 draw.
An away goal from Anthony Martial gave Manchester United a slight edge in the Europa League last-32 tie that will be decided at Old Trafford.
United's midfielders weren't at their best with the likes of Juan Mata, Nemanja Matic, Jesse Lingard, and Andreas Pereira starting in the line-up.
But with the introduction of Fred in the 71 minutes, and Fernandes 10 minutes later, the Red Devils suddenly had the game under control.
Despite playing just 15 minutes before stoppage time, Fernandes attempted more complete passes and shots than any of his team-mates.
Former United striker Van Persie while acting as a pundit on BT Sport, spotted Fernandes as the missing link from the starting line-up.
He said:
"He was unbelievable. With top players, you can tell straight away that he has something. He was silky on the ball and a joy to watch."
However, during an interview with MUTV, Juan Mata expressed his frustration of not being able to help the team grab the whole 3 points but accepted that United did not do enough early in the contest.
He also added that a 1-1 draw away to Club Brugge is obviously not a bad result, but they wanted to win the match.
