The Personal Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on News Media, Mr. Bashir Ahmed has blasted Nigerians whose only aim of commenting under every single post released by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) is to seek for more social media followers.
According to Ahmed, rather than discussing strategies and ways of curbing the spread of the ravaging coronavirus (COVID-19) in the country, he can not comprehend why Nigerians use the medium to beg for followers, taking crucial matters as a joke.
He tweeted:
"Majority of those commenting under the NCDC daily update are only doing so just to beg for following, why would someone always wait for the NCDC to tweet and then drop a “follow me, I follow back” comment, under such a crucial tweet. This is something I can never comprehend."
As at the time of compiling this report, Nigeria has recorded a total number of 4787 cases of coronavirus (COVID-19), 959 infected persons have been treated and discharged, with 158 death cases recorded so far.
