The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has released a fresh update on the number of COVID-19 new cases recorded in the country on Friday 22nd May 2020.
The disease control centre made this known in a tweet via its official Twitter page @NCDCgov, where it disclosed that Nigeria recorded 245 new cases of COVID-19 across the country.
Out of the 245 new cases recorded, Lagos State alone recorded 131 cases, bringing the total infectious cases in the state to 3224.
Other states which recorded new cases of the novel virus were; 16 in Jigawa, 13 in Ogun, 12 in Borno, 9 in each of Kaduna, Oyo, Rivers, Ebonyi, and Kano, 7 in Kwara, 5 in Katsina, 3 in each of Akwa Ibom and Sokoto, 2 in each of Bauchi and Yone, 1 in each of Anambra, Gombe, Niger, Ondo, Plateau, FCT Abuja, and Bayelsa State.
Comparing this report to the one released by NCDC on Thursday 21st May, 100 new patients tested negative and was discharged from isolation centres, while 10 new death cases were recorded.
According to the NCDC, Nigeria has now recorded a total of 7,261 cases of COVID-19 since the index case hits the country. 2,007 patients have been treated and discharged, with 221 total death cases recorded so far.
