Odion Ighalo |
Odion Ighalo's boyhood dream of extending his contract and winning a trophy with English Premier League side Manchester United is set to be cut short as his parent club Shanghai Shenhua rejects all United's attempts to extend his stay.
According to Evening Standard, Ighalo's Manchester United loan deal expires at the end of the month and he is set to return back to China despite all United's attempts to strike an extension deal with the China club.
Shanghai Shenhua insists that Ighalo must return to China to start the country's Super League competition with them.
As revealed by Standard Sport, during negotiation with the China club, United was only after a loan extension deal for the striker, with no talks over a permanent move.
If by Sunday, the two clubs did not come to an agreement on a deal, the Nigerian striker will have to choose then to travel back to China next week.
The 30-year-old has publicly declared his intention to finish the season with United and potentially win a trophy with the club he loves and supported since when he was a child.
