Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Professor Akin Abayomi reports that 3 of the returnees recently evacuated from Dubai have tested positive for COVID-19 after series of tests were conducted on them.
Abayomi raised the alarm in a tweet via his official Twitter page, where he also disclosed that those affected have been admitted to follow Lagos State COVID-19 treatment guidance.
Mackenzieskyblog recalled that 256 Nigerians were sent back to Nigeria from Dubai on May 6 following the global coronavirus pandemic.
The commissioner said that after the test was conducted on the returnees, three of them tested positive for the novel virus.
He tweeted:
"3 of the returnees recently evacuated from Dubai have tested positive for #COVID19 infection following #COVID19 test conducted on them."Those affected have been admitted to @followlasg #COVID19 care centre for appropriate treatment protocols."
However, as per the latest COVID-19 update released by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on 16th May 2020, Lagos State now has a total number of 2373 confirmed cases of coronavirus (COVID-19), with 541 infected persons treated and discharged, and 36 death cases recorded so far.
