UK Office of Communication, commonly known as Ofcom has imposed a sanction on Pastor Chris Oyakhilome's LoveWorld News Broadcast for airing potentially harmful statements linking the emergence of 5G network to the cause of Coronavirus pandemic globally.
Mackenzieskyblog recalled that in early April, the LoveWorld Television Ministry made an unsubstantial broadcast via its satellite around the world claiming that there is a global cover-up over the out-break of the Coronavirus pandemic and the installation of 5G networks being the major cause.
The Christian Network also echoed the anti-malaria drug, hydroxychloroquine as a cure for the virus, without stating that trials for the drug is still inconclusive or clinically unproven, and also the potential side effects of taking it.
The statement from Ofcom read in parts;
“LoveWorld News featured potentially harmful statements about the coronavirus pandemic and adequate protection was not provided to viewers.“We have imposed a sanction on the broadcaster, requiring it to broadcast statements of our findings. We are considering whether to impose any further sanction.”
The British regulator also said that a LoveWorld programme aired from South Africa on 7th April fueled the claim when a presenter stated that what’s killing people globally is not coronavirus, but the installation of the 5G network.
In his recent sermons, Pastor Chris has been casting doubt on the need for lockdown and also describing the wearing of a protective nose mask as an insult to the intelligence of the world's scientists.
According to the British regulator, Pastor Chris was seen during a LoveWorld programme pointing towards an image showing the link between 5G and COVID-19 saying:
“This is real. The power is so much that plants that were close to the cells that were already set up in certain streets burnt.”
The unsubstantial claims that the installation of 5G technology is the major cause of the global pandemic have spread widely around the world in recent months, resulting in distrust in official health advice, and potentially serious consequences for public health.
