Saul Niguez |
Manchester United's fans have been given a surprising blow in their pursuit of Atletico Madrid Midfielder, Saul Niguez, as his 'new club' announcement did not go as expected.
The Midfielder had put the United fan base in suspense earlier this week when he posted a photo on social media with a write-up that seems like a transfer to his new club.
He wrote:
"New club: I'll announce [it] in three days."
However, Saul has made the big revelation about 'his new club', which turns out to be the creation of a youth academy in his home town of Alicante, Spain.
Saul's announcement turns out not to be transfer-related, with the 25-year-old announcing the creation of a Costa City Club along with his brother Aaron.
Saul said:
"We have been developing this exciting and beautiful project for several years and I am very happy to be able to present it and make it official today."
Manchester United have long been linked with a move for the Spain midfielder, as rumors have it that United was prepared to offer €80m (£70m) for the Spain international.
The English club was said to have watched the Spaniard perform during their round of 16 Champions League battle with Liverpool at Anfield.
A dramatic encounter that ended in favour of the Spanish club, as they successfully eliminated the Champions on a 4-2 aggregate.
