Nigerians woke up this morning with a heavy downpour of rain, not knowing that Majek Fashek, the 'Rain Maker' has passed on.
The 'Send Down The Rain' crooner, aged 57, died on the 1st of June in a hospital in New York.
The popular music icon's death was announced on Tuesday morning by his manager, Umenka Uzoma
Day via his Instagram account.
He said:
"Today been having pressure calls, well it is true that the African No 1 Legendary ICON has gone to be with the LORD his Maker, he said."Let celebrate him, his achievements, and his family, whatever decisions made by his immediate family will be notified."
Fashek who was born in Benin-City, Edo State died of a prolonged mysterious illness that affected his music career greatly.
In 2015, it was revealed that Majek was battling drug addiction and was admitted into a drug rehabilitation center in Abuja.
