The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Benin, Edo State chapter has arrested a computer science undergraduate student of the University of Port Harcourt, Kenneth Gift, his mother, and girlfriend for allegedly engaging in internet fraud.
The commission disclosed this in a tweet via its official Twitter handle, where it stated that the student was arrested with his girlfriend, Spice Igwe, and Dora Animam, his mother, in Agbor, Delta state.
According to the report, it was also stated that the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) alerted the Nigerian crime investigation team of the criminal cyber dealings of the student.
The statement reads;
"EFCC Arrests Uniport Undergraduate, Mother, Girlfriend for Suspected Internet Fraud.“Their arrest was sequel to a petition from the US Federal Bureau of Investigation, FBI, and intelligence by operatives of the Commission."
This burgeoning news platform gathered that the EFCC retrieved a 5-bedroom duplex, 3 Mercedes-Benz, laptops, and mobile phones from the suspects.
The suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigations are over, as useful pieces of information have been gotten from them.
“Items recovered from them at the point of arrest include a 5-bedroom duplex, Mercedes-Benz CA250, Mercedes-Benz C250, Mercedes Benz GLK 350, laptop computers and mobile phones.”"The suspects have made useful statements and will be charged to court as soon investigations are complete."
