Nigerian singer, songwriter, and model, Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, known professionally as Ayra Starr has seeen her dreams come true as Wizkid followed her back on Instagram.
The excited Mavin Records signee who is popularly known for her hit music single titled "Bloody Samaritan" revealed this in a post she shared via her verified Twitter handle.
She wrote;
"Just woke up to Wizkid following me back on Instagram, Am I your Mateeeeeee?"
Ayra Starr was born June 14th, 2002 in Cotonou Republic of Bénin. She grew up spending time in both Cotonou and Lagos Nigeria. She was born to Nigerian parents who hail from Kwara state, North Central of the nation.
She was born into a family of four, her brother Dami Aderibigbe or Milarofficial as he is popularly referred to on social media is also a singer and songwriter credited for writing some of his sister’s songs and also the popular song by Johnny Drille Mystery Girl. Her mother is also a singer.
After covering several songs on Instagram, Ayra Starr posted her first original song on her page in December 2019. This brought her to the attention of record executive Don Jazzy, and led to her signing to Mavin.
Ayra Starr has managed to get recognition in the music industry. She received a nomination from the Net Honors Awards in 2021 in the category of Most Played R&B Song.
Early 2021 she attained mainstream recognition with her debut EP Ayra Starr and its hit track "Away". The hit track is ranked Number four on Nigeria’s turntable top 50 as well as number 17 onUS Billboard Top Thriller Global, making way for the release of her first full-length studio album, titled "19 & Dangerous” later in 2021.
Also in 2021, the musician performed at the season finale of the popular Nigerian talent show Nigerian Idol.
