Nigerian singer Wizkid's song Essence and album Made in Lagos failed to win at the 2022 Grammy Awards, the 64th edition of the music ceremony.
Wizkid's song 'Essence' where he features Tems and Justin Bieber, a song that topped many charts worldwide was up for nomination for the Best Global Music Performance category.
For that category, it was Pakistani Arooj Aftab that won the Grammy Award. Arooj Aftab was with Burna Boy, Wizkid, Angélique Kidjo for dat category.
At a night where many of Wizkid's fan were hopeful to see Wizkid (whose real name is Ayo Balogun) win another Grammy.
The 'Ojuelegba' singer also lost for the second category where he was earlier nominated.
Recall that during the 2020 Grammys, 'Best Global Music Album' was known as the 'Best World Music Album' category.
Grammy explained that they changed the name to make it more relevant, modern and inclusive.
Last year, Wizkid won Grammy award sake of is collaboration with American singer, Beyonce in the song titled “Brown Skin Girl”.
