The Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, Abba Kyari, is dead. He died while treating coronavirus at a private hospital in Lagos.

His demise was announced via a tweet in the early hours of Saturday by the presidential special adviser on media and publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina.

"Chief of Staff to the President, Mallam Abba Kyari, passes on. May God rest his spirit. Amen. Burial arrangements to be declared soon," Mr Adesina composed. 

Mr. Kyari had tested positive for the ravaging COVID-19 on March 23 and had been accepting treatment. Be that as it may, he passed on Friday, April 17, 2020. 

He gave his first official confirmation of his COVID-19 status after he was tested positive six days earlier.

"I have made my own consideration game plans to maintain a strategic distance from further troubling the general health system, which faces such a large number of weights.

"This is a prudent step: I feel well, yet a week ago I tested positive for Coronavirus, the pandemic that is clearing the world. I have followed all protocols the government has declared to self-disengage and isolate," he said.

Mr. Kyari had headed out to Germany on March 7 and returned about seven days after. He is suspected to have gotten the illness while there. 

The head of staff, who traveled to Europe together with the power minister, Saleh Mamman, came back to the nation on March 14. 

The pair had gone to Germany to meet with the authorities of Siemens AG in quest of the deal recently signed between the Nigerian government and the energy organization towards improving power supply in the nation.
