According to The Nation, Katsina State governor, Aminu Masari has announced a shutdown of activities in Daura LGA of the state after the wife and two children of the medical doctor, who died of COVID-19 in Daura, tested positive to the pandemic.

The governor ordered all the residents of the area to remain indoors starting from Saturday 11, April 2020. Pointing out that the military personal will be in charge to monitor the development, as anyone found outside will face the consequence.

MackenzieSkyBlog understands that the late doctor, Dr. Aliyu Yakubu, had headed out to Lagos and came back to Daura after which he fell wiped out and was later confirmed to be contaminated with the infection. 

He was admitted at the Nigeria Air Force Reference Hospital, Daura where he kicked the bucket on Saturday, April 4. 

"Tests of around 23 individuals were taken to the Nigeria Center for Disease Control; three tried positive for COVID-19," Gov. Aminu Masari told newsmen in Katsina. 

He said that the spouse and two kids had been taken to an isolation center at the Federal Medical Center, Katsina where they were being managed.

"We are still taking samples of individuals suspected to have had contact with the people in question; we will follow anybody that had any contact with the people in question. We will guarantee that the pandemic isn't spread further," he said. 

The governor, therefore, announced an all-out lockdown on Daura Local Government, to forestall the spread of the pandemic. 

"The government, in counsel with the nearby authority in Daura, has chosen to lockdown Daura Local Government Area totally, starting from 7 a.m. on Saturday, April 11," Masari said. 

Masari, notwithstanding, said that the COVID-19 Rapid Response Committee would permit four pharmaceutical outfits and three-grain stores to work, to empower individuals to purchase what they may require. 

The governor charged security operators to guarantee that individuals followed the orders, and cautioned occupants against testing the government's earnestness on the issue. 

He said: 

"We need individuals to help out government with the goal that we can contain the sickness. The lockdown may accompany a few challenges, yet it is important in order to spare lives."
