Kaduna State Governor, Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai has revealed that the 18 new COVID-19 cases recorded in the state on Thursday 21st May 2020, had 10 family members inclusive.
The governor disclosed this in a tweet via his verified Twitter handle, where he stated that a family of 10 members tested positive for COVID-19 in Kaduna.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) had announced on Thursday night that Nigeria recorded 339 new COVID-19 cases, with 18 cases recorded in Kaduna state.
El-Rufai further disclosed that the 18 new cases were recorded from four local government areas of the state. 14 from Kaduna North North, 2 from Zaria, and one from Chikun and Sabon-Gari respectively.
"Covid-19 UPDATE: 18 new cases were recorded today, 10 of whom are family members of one case. 14 of the new cases are from Kaduna North, two from Zaria and one each from Chikun and Sabon-Gari LGAs," the Governor said.
He however urges the state residents to always follow the safety and preventive measures put in place to help curb the spread of the ravaging virus in the state.
According to NCDC, Kaduna State now has a total number of 170 COVID-19 cases recorded in the state so far.
He however appealed to Kaduna State citizens to adhere strictly to safety measures put in place to check the spread of the virus in the state.
