Coronavirus - FG Orders Closure Of Schools Nationwide

When will school open
The Federal Government of Nigeria has ordered the closure of all educational systems in the country including tertiary, secondary, and primary schools.

The Ministry of Education confirmed this via its permanent secretary, Sunny Echono, who said that a press statement will be released tomorrow on the matter.

"We will send a press release out tomorrow, thank you,” he said.

The Federal Ministry of Education took the decision due to the raising case of coronavirus in the country in a bid to curb the quick spread of the virus and thereby save lives.

The closure of tertiary institutions, secondary and primary schools across the country came with no surprise since the NYSC orientation camp was shut down.

Public religious and social gathering of more than 50 persons has also been banned across state governments for fear of coronavirus, to prevent an outbreak of the pandemic spreading nationwide.

Mackenzieskyblog gathered that primary schools were supposed to start their 2nd term examination next week Tuesday in preparation for Easter, while secondary pupils were also preparing to write WAEC in April. All this won't be possible again as all educational activities have been closed until further notice.

This action was taken as four new cases of the virus were confirmed in Lagos on Thursday, on top of the five detected on Wednesday in the country, making it a total of nine confirmed cases in the country as the virus keeps spreading.

The situation has raised fears of the pandemic spreading further in Nigeria and wreaking havoc in the face of an almost non-functional health system.
