BREAKING - Coronavirus Hits Katsina State

COVID-19 In Katsina State, Nigeria
Katsina State Ministry of Health has announced that it has in custody a suspected case of COVID 19, making it the 4th case of the global pandemic in the country following the case reported from Lagos state.

The Permanent Secretary of the State’s Ministry of Health, Dr. Kabir Musptapha told newsmen during a briefing, that the patient had returned from Malaysia and was suspected to have developed symptoms of the virus and has been placed on self-isolation.

He said that the patient’s samples have been taking to the lab and results will be communicated to the public by tomorrow adding that contact tracing will commence as soon the test results are out.

He said: 

"The ministry is taking all precautionary measures and closely working with the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), on the matter.’’

According to him, the patient’s history of travel was a high index and the report came from a clinic after noting that since the patient’s arrival into the state, he has taken into personal protection by using face marks and self-isolation.

Mustapha advised people of the host community of Dutsinma town to be cautious of their movements and avoid any social gatherings for now.

However, he urges the people to always feel free to seek medical attention as soon as any suspected symptoms are observed as all precautionary measures are in place to provide medical support.

He noted that the ministry is taking all precautionary measures and closely working with the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on the matter.

The virus has amounted to three confirmed cases after the Federal Ministry of Health Tuesday confirmed the third case in Enugu.
