COVID-19 - We’ve Started Immediate Cash Transfer To Nigerian Says FG

COVID-19 Cash Transfer
Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, disaster management and social development, Sadiya Farouq, says the federal has begun cash transfer to the poorest households within the country to cushion the economic impact of the Coronavirus pandemic.

Farouq announced this at a news conference in Abuja. 

She said her ministry has commenced advance payment of conditional cash transfer to the poorest households within the country. 

She however didn't disclose the quantity of money that's being transferred to the poor.

“In Mr. President’s speech, paragraph 54, he directed that the conditional cash transfer should tend beforehand of two months. This we've also done. we've directed immediate cash transfer to the poorest and most vulnerable households within the country.

“Because of this COVID-19, the vulnerable groups need to expanded, because we are aware that there are people that survive daily wage, so we also are getting to check out those groups of individuals to ascertain how we will get this food relief intervention to them during this period,” she said.

Lagos and Abuja are currently on lock-down as a part of measures to contain the spread of Coronavirus. As of this morning, Nigeria has 131 confirmed cases of Coronavirus.

  2. we are not serious yet. if Nigerian government must do this, then they should do it right if money is made available to help the citizens feed while indoors then it should go round. 80% of the citizens can receive the money through the BVN.with this, people will stay indoors and help prevent the spread. if the world ends today, what happens to all this wealth they are keeping for themselves. The resent development will now make our so called leaders to fall back home and do the needful, that which they travel to other countries to see do and get according to late nelson mandela,,"time shall come where the white man"s country will no longer be safe for African leaders to travel to, they will be forced to stay and make a positive change for africans" 1918-2013
